The University of Minnesota’s BioTechnology Institute (BTI) and the Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation Center (BBIC) partnered on the first BioTech Day symposium May 1. The event marks BTI’s 40th anniversary. This collaborative event convened researchers and trainees from the University and industry, offering an opportunity to share new research, discuss challenges in the field, and network. According to Distinguished McKnight Professor Claudia Schmidt-Dannert, PhD, who directs BTI and BBIC, the day illuminated BTI’s crucial role in facilitating collaborative biotechnology research and entrepreneurship. The event also allowed attendees to share ideas for future collaborative projects. Given the success of this first event, BTI and BBIC intend to make BioTech Day an annual event. BTI is a Consortium Member Center.
