The Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), a Consortium Member Center, has launched the Vaccine Integrity Project, an effort to safeguard vaccine use throughout the nation. Eight leading public health and public policy experts, including CIDRAP Director Michael Osterholm, PhD, serve on the project’s Steering Committee. According to a University of Minnesota news release, the committee is charged with ensuring vaccines remain “grounded in the best available science, free from external influence, and focused on optimizing protection of individuals, families, and communities against vaccine-preventable diseases.” Project leaders intend to schedule listening sessions with various stakeholders to gather information about emerging threats to vaccine use and policy, then develop action plans to solidify the public trust in vaccines. Committee Co-Chairs are Dr. Margaret Hamburg, Co-President of the InterAcademy Partnership, and Dr. Harvey Fineberg, President of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. The project received $240,000 in funding from the Alumbra Innovation Foundation.
